"Rafaela Who Drinks... on Tuesdays"
This vignette shows how women are treated at the time during the book was written, and how they were almost like pets or objects to the men who marry them. This story applies to most of the women Esperanza describes like Sally who is forced to stay inside. The only man in the story who does not do this is Esperanza's father, which is why Esperanza is so sad for these people because she knows what a real man should act like because of the way her father treats her mother so well.

It was sad how bad woman were treated back then. They were like pets, they did wat they were told when they were told and had no mind of their own. i feel really bad for woman of this time period. Esperanza's father is a good example of how men should act.
